New Beginnings

Go Gently into the New Year..

What if January isn’t about pushing harder but about nurturing the seeds you’ve already planted?

The start of a new year often comes with a lot of noise about goals, resolutions, and how to “make this your best year yet.” But what if, instead of rushing in, you allowed yourself to go gently? What if you thought about the seeds you planted in 2025, water the ones which still resonate and help them flourish in 2026?

In 2025, I planted some important seeds — starting my business, putting myself out there, investing in mentoring, deepening friendships, and making changes that simplified my life. None of it was instant and it wasn’t meant to be.

Seeds don’t grow instantly. They grow because we give them time, care and the right conditions. We don’t keep digging them up to check on progress or berate ourselves that they’re not growing quickly enough and yet we often do exactly that to ourselves. I think there’s so much pressure, especially at this time of year, to set our stall out to be everything we’re told we should be, and that doesn’t necessarily align with who we are.

I don’t make New Year’s resolutions. I know what works for me — walking in nature, time with my horse, consistency over intensity, building habits I know will stick and building compound interest in the things that move me forward. This year, my commitment is simple: to move every day in ways I enjoy and can sustain, and to keep focusing on what genuinely matters.

As January begins, my intention isn’t to do more — it’s to recognise that I don’t need to do everything at once to succeed. To accept that sometimes slower really is quicker. To stop investing energy where it isn’t reciprocated, and to keep laying solid foundations with care and consistency.

These aren’t January-only intentions — they’re how I want to move through the year and by taking a consistent approach, there’s more chance they’ll stick.

So instead of worrying about falling behind if you don’t have everything mapped out right now, what if you go gently into the new year?

– What seeds did you plant in 2025?
– Which ones are beginning to grow and which no longer feel right?
– What will you choose to start, stop or continue as you move into 2026?

For me, the seeds I planted in 2025 saw me start my business, invest in myself, decide to move yards with my horse, build confidence by doing, and putting energy into building stronger, deeper relationships.

What are you choosing to nurture as this year begins? I’d love to hear your thoughts,

With love,

Nicky
